According to the World Commission on Environment and Development sustainability means “Meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of the future generations to meet their own needs”.  The sustainability of the cement and concrete industries is imperative to the well-being of our planet and to human development.  However, the production of Portland cement, an essential constituent of concrete, leads to the release of a significant amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gas (GHGs).  The production of one ton of Portland cement produces about one ton of GHGs. Now this article will introduce about what sustainable concrete technology we have, especially producing concrete.

첫 번째로 만든 도로1에서는 가운데에 있는 골짜기 지형을 이용하여 그려냈다. 골짜기 지형을 이용하면 완만한 경사를 이용하여 도로를 만들 수 있고, 목표점까지 짧은 거리를 유지할 수 있었다. 하지만 다음 문제는 골짜기를 지나고 나서였다.  그 이후의 구간은 경사가 가파른 구간이 있었고, 어차피 경사도가 6%가 넘게 되면 절토 혹은 성토를 해야 했기 때문에 비용적인 측면을 고려하여 돌아가더라도 경사도를 낮췄다. 그리고 나서 보니 초반부분에 경사도에 대해서 생각을 못했던 것 같다

도로 2의 경우 가운데 골짜기를 지나는 방식이 아니라  옆의 능선을 타고 올라갔다가 다시 내려오는 방식을 취했다.  도로1의 방식을 시도해 보고 이 방식을 시도해본 이유는 경사를 최대한 낮출 수 있을 것이라고 생각했기 때문이다. 결국 더 발생하는 비용은 절토량과 성토량에서 나올 것이기 때문에 길이가 길어져도 경사도를 낮추는 방식이 나을 것이라고 판단했다. 그래서 더 높이 올라가도 돌아서 가는 방식을 택한 것이다.
